Let’s
talkabout
sustainability
Why cronch creepy crawlies?
Your eco-conscious choices should include your pet’s diet. Aiko is made from insect-based protein, a significantly more sustainable and kinder option than livestock protein. For pet owners who have doubts about the ethics and environmental impact of livestock reared and processed for pet food, insect-based protein is the answer. By feeding your dog insect-based protein, you’ll ensure she has a significantly smaller carbon pawprint.
Cut down on Carbon (CO2)
Global meat production contributes to as much as 25% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Insect cultivation emits 100x less CO2 than livestock farming, and does not emit any nitrous oxide or methane. We’re also saving on CO2 emissions by sourcing ingredients and producing our pet food locally.
Less land, lower impact
Did you know that about 26% of ice-free earth surface is used as grazing land for farm animals? Farming insects like the Black Soldier Fly Larvae used to make Aiko, uses 50x less land. Because they are teeny-tiny, these insects don’t need a lot of space. Where 80% of farmland is traditionally used to grow feed for farm animals, no extra land-mass is used to grow food for insects. Dogs that eat Aiko are treading much more lightly on the earth, and have a much lower impact on land-use.
Way less water wasted
Aiko pups are water wise. Growing a pound of grubs uses 20x less water than producing a pound of meat. Half of the world’s population will be living in areas facing water scarcity by as early as 2025. Using water sparingly and efficiently is essential in ensuring our water resources last longer for everyone, so choose to feed your pet a water-conscious brand.
